Hollands Welgaren boeklancering

Hollands Welgaren boeklancering

this post is about the book launch of my new Dutch knitting and crochet book Hollands Welgaren, therefore written in Dutch.

June 2015

The past couple of weeks have been quite intense for me; being 8-9 months pregnant, diabetic Type 1, Summer temperatures, finishing several projects and starting up an exciting big new one… throw that in a mix and my days are full. Blogging is what stops first for me, for the simple reason I’d rather spent time away from my computer.

However, I thought it would be nice to at least update you on the projects of the past month, and wave off properly before my baby arrives and my life no doubt will be upside down for a couple weeks or months. Even though my posts on Instagram are slowing down rapidly too, if you’d like to stay up to date with my projects and ramblings, find me there for occasional posts.

In the pictures from top to bottom: frame one holds a baby bonnet in progress according to this pattern with the soft MoYa cotton, to be found through Scaapi. I’ve made the pale one first, and the pink one you see in the image was my second. I didn’t quite like the edging, which is why I made a provisional cast on and worked the i-cord all around the bonnet in once. There’s a gorgeous table set up, an image I took at my own surprise baby shower I really had no idea of and happened to be the most precious afternoon ever. Lots of darling friends and family, delicious food, beautiful display and the sweetest gifts. I felt so special! In the bottom left corner there’s yarn I used for a commissioned cute little project I designed, that will be featured in a magazine this August. I will update you on that once it’s printed.

Frame two holds a sneak preview top left of the new big project I am working on but can’t say anything about yet, top right a baby boy cardigan I am working on for the dear friend who threw me that amazing baby shower, bottom left a large toddler version of my Miami Beach design I intend to list as soon as the baby and I are in a decent schedule so I can pick up work again.

Bottom right proves the amazing Summer weather we’ve been having in The Netherlands; bbq and caesar salad after water melon we ate to stay cool. And what about those pretty plates I hear you thinking? Well, they are by Bunzlau Castle and I just love how their designs make your food look even more delicious. If you are as curious as I am as to how these pretty decors are being handmade, have a look here at this video. So much craftsmanship and details… as a lover of anything handmade, seeing this just makes my craft heart jump! And wanting to get my stamps out and give it a go too, haha.

In the third frame it’s all about a cute little knitted dress pattern I found on Ravelry and it is highly addictive to make, I warn you. This dress pattern was making the dress too large to my liking though, so I’ve altered the pattern to my own tension with Catania cotton. I am working on adding the details to my project page on Ravelry, so you can have a go with your own Catania yarn if you like. I mean, it takes not even 2 skeins for a 0-3 month baby dress. That’s doable right? I really have to hold myself back not to make many more colour variations, but let’s wait and see our baby first to decide what suits her best.

While I finish writing birth announcement envelopes and wait for the baby to arrive, I am finishing up on some projects. If I get the chance I will upload them for you to see, otherwise you’ll find them on Instagram or in a couple weeks or months.

Have a lovely Summer yourself and I hope to see you soon and be able to share pictures of our baby! Thank you in advance for your patience. xo
